Customer History

BCI Group (Banque pour le Commerce et l’Industrie) operates across four West African countries — Mauritania, Mali, Guinea, and Senegal — managing several Swift BICs under a unified infrastructure. Before partnering with DiXiO, all entities relied on an Alliance Lite2 connectivity model to manage their Swift messaging operations.

As the group began planning the evolution of its Swift connectivity and anticipating the transition toward Alliance Cloud, BCI started engaging with technology providers to evaluate the best path forward.

Initially, the bank had already entered discussions with another provider and was close to finalizing an agreement. However, internal procurement policies required BCI to conduct a formal benchmarking exercise and compare multiple offers before signing any contract.

This process opened the door for DiXiO to present its Smart Messaging Platform. What initially started as a standard vendor comparison quickly evolved into a deeper evaluation of the available solutions.

Through workshops, technical discussions, and live demonstrations, BCI’s teams began reassessing their initial assumptions and exploring the broader value that a specialized Swift partner could bring.

Customer Needs

BCI was facing increasing operational pressure related to Swift messaging implementation, regulatory evolution, and ongoing security updates. Each regulatory or security update required complex adjustments within the bank’s core banking environment, creating operational constraints and slowing down the adoption of new Swift standards.

In parallel, the group wanted to anticipate the industry shift toward Alliance Cloud connectivity and ensure its infrastructure would remain aligned with Swift’s evolving standards, including CSP requirements and the ISO 20022 migration.

BCI therefore sought a partner capable of delivering:

A secure and resilient Swift messaging infrastructure
Strong security governance and compliance capabilities (ISO 27001 alignment, CSP readiness, regular penetration testing)
Greater independence from the core banking system
A modern and user-friendly operational interface
A long-term technology partner able to support future regulatory evolution

Solution

During the evaluation phase, DiXiO’s Smart Messaging Platform (SMP) quickly distinguished itself both technically and operationally.

Live demonstrations allowed BCI’s teams to compare platforms in real operational scenarios. The evaluation highlighted a clear difference in usability, flexibility, and platform maturity.

Unlike some competing offerings relying primarily on standard Swift interfaces, DiXiO provided a proprietary platform designed to enhance operational efficiency through a modern, customizable, and user‑friendly interface. Security and compliance were also key differentiators. DiXiO demonstrated a comprehensive security framework including ISO 27001 alignment, regular penetration testing, and full compliance with Swift’s Customer Security Programme (CSP).

Technically and financially, the Smart Messaging Platform offered a compelling alternative. The AL2 lift‑and‑shift approach combined with a phased transition toward Business Connect provided a pragmatic and low‑risk migration path.

By migrating four BICs onto the SMP, BCI gained:

A secure, fully managed Swift messaging infrastructure
Reduced dependency on its core banking provider
Simplified management of Swift security and standards updates
Centralized visibility across all group entities
A scalable platform aligned with future Swift evolution

Conclusion

Following a comprehensive market evaluation, BCI selected DiXiO as its strategic partner to modernize its Swift messaging infrastructure.

The Smart Messaging Platform now supports four BICs across the group, delivering improved operational resilience, stronger security, and greater flexibility. Beyond the technology itself, the collaboration has evolved into a strong partnership built on responsiveness, expertise, and continuous support.

Today, BCI continues to work closely with DiXiO to optimize its Swift environment and prepare for future regulatory and industry developments.

Next Steps

BCI Group will continue collaborating with DiXiO to further optimize its Swift messaging environment and support the ongoing evolution of industry standards. With four BICs successfully operating on the Smart Messaging Platform, BCI is now well positioned for long‑term agility, security, and sustainable growth.
